Lesson 3
Breathing is super important; it supports the voice, prevents cracking, and helps you sing at the right pitch. Without proper breathing, singing becomes harder, and it also affects the clarity of your voice. You want to make sure that when breathing in, your ribcage expands and your stomach slightly goes forward as well. This allows space and creates a deeper breath instead of shallow ones. I know it feels weird, but breath support, though not commonly practiced, can help you later in crazy vocal runs as well as making your normal singing easier. After practicing proper technique on breathing (see video and instructions above it), we will move into a vocal exercise called the solfège method. Later on, this will also help if you dive deeper into harmony and music theory. See the next lesson for more. |
